Mt. Rose Trail

Recently we hiked along the Mt. Rose Loop Trail, near Incline Village, Lake Tahoe, NV.
It was a stunning trail with some phenomenal vistas of the Tahoe area. Despite its length, 5-6 miles round trip, and elevation (8900ft +), we saw many families with children on this trail.  It was early August, and everywhere you looked there were wildflowers in bloom.

This was my favorite flower of the day, just because it was a little weird looking.

The waterfall was flowing pretty nicely for early August.  We could have turned to the left here to get to an access road or turned around.  Most people turn around here unless they plan on making the full 10 mile hike up to Mt. Rose.

This is the slightly longer loop.  We didn't continue on up the mountain, but looped around above the waterfall and near the creek that fed it.  If you look at the EveryTrail, we went from point 4 to point 8.

We saw many butterflies, chipmunks and birds throughout the day.

Atazia inspiration photos

Much of the inspiration for the landscape for Atazia came from these photos.  We took them along the Rainbow trail at Taylor Creek in Lake Tahoe, California
This is mid-July and clearly the height of wildflower season.
